Require consent for screenshots

    I am a student and I am writing a research article on creating websites. For my article, I require a few screenshots from WordPress. Before using the screenshots I wanted to check if I require an official consent or I can do it as WordPress comes under GNU General License?

    Hi there,

    Can you provide a bit more details on exactly what it is you want to use screen shots of?

    Note that we can only give permission for use of screen shots of WordPress.com’s tools, i.e. the My Sites interface, or the WP-Admin dashboard of a WordPress.com site.

    We’re not the same thing as the open source WordPress software. That’s made by the community on WordPress.org, and the trademark is owned by the non-profit WordPress Foundation.

    If you’ll be using the open source WordPress software for your screen shots it will most likely not be a problem, but you can ask the folks in the WordPress.org community instead – if special permission is required, they should be able to point you in the right direction:
