Requiring approval of a stranger's email

  • Unknown's avatar

Today I received an email from someone who said he did it from my website. Is there a way for me to approve the email before it shows the contents? Thanks!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

Are you referring to comment being posted and available for viewing on your blog? If so, you an go to Settings → Discussion in order to require people to supply their email. You should be able to approve and unapprove comments before they appear on your blog.

    Thanks!

Thanks, but it’s not comments. I blocked someone on instagram and he clicked on my link and filled out the contact form and sent me an email to my Gmail account. Is there any way to prevent that?
    Thanks

  • Hi there,

There is no effective way to block email subscribers, so it would be ineffective to provide the ability to manually unfollow or unsubscribe a user. A follower could create a new account, username, or e-mail address and refollow the blog or contact you gain. Since IP addresses are dynamic, blocking the address would not work either. Also, other users who are currently on the same IP address might inadvertently be blocked as well.

The contact form submissions are private and doesn’t end up on your blog, so I would just delete the email from that person whenever you see his information pop up in the subject line of your inbox.

Feel free to let us know if you have any questions.

    Thanks,

    Darnell
