Responding to comments

    What is the minimum user level that is able to respond to comments?

    That site is not hosted on WordPress.com, but using the open source WordPress.org software at another hosting provider. We’re only able to help with sites hosted on our servers at WordPress.com.

    Please ask the WordPress.org community for advice instead. They provide support for the version of WordPress you’re using:

    https://wordpress.org/support/forums

    That said, commenting is not tied to user roles.

    If your site is public, any visitor to your site can reply to any comment left on any post or page. If you only want users on your site to be able to comment, you’ll need to use a membership or commenting plugin that lets you add such a restriction.
