Restoring Old Website

    I created candidmagnolias.com in 2019. However, after about a year, I went back to a full time job and neglected my website. My BlueHost did not get renewed and I lost my domain and all of the information/articles I posted on my site. Now, I am trying to start back again. I have renewed my BlueHost account, but WordPress did not restore any of my old files/information/publications. Is there a way to retrieve this? Thanks in advance!

    Hi! It’s the other way around actually: when you run your own copy of WordPress with another host, your WordPress installing exists within that hosting account. If the account goes away, so does your copy of the software and its data.

    But your host may still have backups from your last live site. Or, you might check your own system to see if you had kept a backup somewhere.

    There are also some paid services that would keep a backup of your site for you, so if you were using any of those, you might reach out to them, too. I hope this helps!
