Restrict Downloads

  We have a new site for our clients where most (not all)of the pages are private. We have many pages with downloadable media files, pdf’s, jpegs, ect. We would like to set up demo account to show prospective people are site but want to prevent them from downloading anything. Mainly a view only. Any ideas of the best way to go about this? Thanks

  Hi there,

  I’m afraid that’s not possible.

  If someone has the ability to view a particular file or content in their browser, they have the ability to download/copy it. This functionality is built into web browsers themselves, and there’s no way to disable this functionality from the website itself.

  There are plugins that claim to prevent this, but all they really do is make it more difficult – anyone who knows how their browser works can circumvent those plugins pretty easily.
