Retrieving pictures, possibly?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi,

I made a really dumb mistake and I’m hoping you can help me fix it.

I canceled my paid plan because my blog is no longer making enough money to afford it. I love WordPress, just wasn’t in the budget. I exported a file with all my stuff in it, but it turns out none of my photos came with it because they link to a WordPress address.

Now my account has reverted to free and I don’t know if I have those pictures anywhere else! Can I retrieve them somehow?

    Hi there,

Can you please go to your “Media Library” and check whether photos are there?

My Sites> select your site > “Media”
Just click on it you should be able to see your pictures there.

For more information about Media Library please visit:

    Thanks!

    Hi Lizzy,

Now my account has reverted to free and I don’t know if I have those pictures anywhere else!

I just wanted to mention the process of reverting to a free plan won’t delete images from the Media Library. I can only see a custom domain upgrade on the account you are logged in to at the moment. What is the address of the site you purchased a plan for and exported content from?

it turns out none of my photos came with it because they link to a WordPress address.

The images themselves aren’t included in the .xml file — it only contains links to those images on the site. For the import to work successfully, those images need to remain on the site you exported from until the import has finished and the site needs to remain public.

Once I know which sites you exported from and to, I’ll be happy to take a look.
