reverting from a domain name to wordpress.com
-
If blog is hosted on wordpress and then upgrades to use a domain name, will the wordpress.com URL still work? And if after upgrading, I decide to revert back to using just the wordpress.com URL, will I then lose my content?
If I let go of my domain name, will my wordpress.com URL still work?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If you are not into blogging on a domain over the long term don’t purchase a domain at all as it makes no sense to do that.
When domain mapping is in place the .wordpress.com URLs when clicked will seamlessly redirect visitors to the domain URLs. It will take about 3 – 4 months time for the search engines like Google and Bing to re-index your content under the new domain URLs.
If you fail to renew the domain all the content remains where it is BUT all the URLs break! They revert to the old .wordpress.com URLs and everywhere there is a a link to the domain URL throughout the internet they are broken links producing 404 (page not found) error messages. t will take about 3 – 4 months time for the search engines like Google and Bing to re-index your content under the old .wordpress.com subdomain URLs.

Ignoring the search engines and such for a moment – most people with a blog send the URL to their friends and such who send it on to others – if you use a mapped domain name – all your fan club will be out in the ozone if the mapped domain goes away –
