Rewewing hosting of a site belonging to a deceased customer

Hello! My father hosted a blog that he published using WordPress.com, the domain for which has recently expired. He has passed away recently and we (his family) want to back up his writings, and are hoping to reactivate his site even if just temporarily so we can download its contents. The domain was hosted through Wild West Domains, but when I called them to ask about reactivation they said it was all done through WordPress and to contact you. I am happy to pay any kind of reactivation or hosting fee necessary; we just want his writings to be able to remember him by. Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you!
