Well I kind of figured out a work around, but now I’m trying to figure out how to do URL forwarding so the URL in my browser window reflects the redirect. I know it’s slightly off topic now, but do you have any info on how to do that?
-
Can you tell me exactly what you want to happen when someone visits http://capistranocommunitychurch.wordpress.com/ and what you want to happen when someone visits http://capistranocc.org/ ? For example, when someone visits capistranocommunitychurch.wordpress.com, you want your wordpress.com site to appear, but capistranocc.org to be in the address bar.
Then I can help you figure out the best way to set up your domain. :)

Let’s see if I can explain this correctly…
When someone types in capistranocc.org into their browser bar, I want them to land on capistranocommunitychurch.wordpress.com (I already have a redirect in place – so that happens), but I’d also like the URL to display as ‘capistranocc.org’ instead of what it displays now (capistranocommunitychurch.wordpress.com).
I think what I’m trying to do is called URL forwarding…

Okay! Thanks for that! :)
We can that Domain Mapping. Other services may call it domain pointing. Just to clear up some confusion, domain forwarding usually refers to a service were you visit a domain and it redirects you to another site. That first domain will not appear in the address bar though.
Now, to set up domain mapping so it works the way you want, you need to change your name servers to the following:
NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
NS3.WORDPRESS.COMIf you don’t know how to do this, you’ll need to contact your registrar for assistance.
Once you do that, the settings may take a few hours to propagate. Then your domain will behave as you want. (Make sure you remove the domain forwarding you had set up.)
Let me know if you have any questions!

Hi Shawna,
We were able to update the DNS records properly, I appreciate your help. Now we’re having trouble with our MX records. I need some help correcting a problem with our inability to receive email from mail6.websitesource.net

It looks like you might be missing a CNAME record. Can you check with your mail host about what your full DNS settings should look like?
