  I have a private blog, and do not want the entire content of the post sent as an email, but the email to be just a notification of a new post, wherein they could go to the blog site or be hyperlinked to it, to read it, and other posts

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi Suzanne,

  You can control how much of the post is sent to your followers in your site’s reading settings, under Settings > Reading in the WP Admin dashboard.

  Next to “For each article in a feed, show” you can choose “Summary.” That way, only an excerpt of your post will be sent to your followers, and they’ll have to click through to read the full post directly on your blog.
