Safari and Chrome new sign before public accessing my website

Recently a disturbing sign has come up on my website when others try and access it, stating my site in not secure and asking them to confirm before continuing. This is not at all good, its hard enough to get people to look at your website without a message like this deterring people – a colleague told me its a new thing Safari and Chrome have done if your website isn’t http – I tried to change this in my settings but it still didn’t work. I wanted to know how do I change this so people can instantly access my website without a message to scare them off. Please tell me the solution that WordPress has come up with for this new update from Safari and Chrome – if there isn’t one I will have to host my website else where.

What is the URL of your website on the wordpress.com platform? I suspect you are using the standalone version of wordpress.org.
