Save web site as file.
-
I made my first web site a few years ago and, I am happy with the results, unfortunately, this is just a slow leak of money since this is not monetized.
http://paristakemybreathaway.com/I would like to save it to a file, that maybe I can open in a web browser. or reupload it latter. under “tools” then “export” does that make a complete file? that can be saved to a hard drive or thumb drive?

Hi there,
The file you get at Tools ->Export is a .xml file of your site’s text content only. So it will have all your posts, pages and comments, but not your media files. That file is also meant for machines to read, for importing to another site, not for people.
For a complete backup of all your site’s files, you’ll need to contact your hosting provider directly for help.
There’s another option, though:
If you create a new site here on WordPress.com, you can use that export file and import it to the WordPress.com site. That way a copy of your content, including media files, will live on our servers, and it would be entirely free, provided you use the free address we’ll provide you rather than your current domain.
You can then also set the WordPress.com site to private if you don’t want others to be able to access your site.
