Saving blog

Can i save the content of my blog in a word or excel file where I can see the picture, text and videos? The xml file doesn’t allow that. thanks

There really isn’t an ideal way to do that. You could copy and paste from the WordPress.com visual editor into a Word doc, but the pictures might not copy over.
What is your end goal? Are you just trying to find an easier way to edit that you’re more used to, like Word? If so, you might consider trying the Windows Live Writer app which is a desktop app for editing WordPress blogs that feels a bit more like a Word editor. Check it out here:

My end goal is to keep a record of my blog for years, even after i stoped using it. I also want to have access to it offline. It’s a blog about my baby’s first year and I’d like to be able to keep it and be able to look at it 20 years from now… Any suggestion?

Yes! You might really like this blog to book service called Blurb. I used it once for pictures I took at a party for a family member’s 80th birthday party and it turned out really wonderful. Everyone loved it tons! I bet it would be perfect for what you’re trying to do:

Oh that’s a good idea! But i would need a digital book then becsaue I have a lot of videos on the blog. Which won’t print as a book. You know if that exists? Thanks!

Darn, video, right! Yes, I’m not sure about the videos.
There is not a way to download all the videos from a WordPress.com blog directly, so you do indeed need to keep those backed up separately if you want to keep a digital archive of them.

well thank you so much for your answers and ideas. very helpful to talk to a real person and get real thinking about my problem :-) if i can suggest something to wordpress developers, maybe you can create your own service to save your blog. It can be a paid for service but i’m sure lots of people would enjoy paying for it, to keep a digital record of all text, photos and videos :-) Bye
