The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Yes, please follow this guide to schedule your posts and/or pages: https://wordpress.com/support/schedule-a-post-or-page/

  • Unknown's avatar

Ok. Also when will new themes become available

  • New themes are available as our designers release them, we have no set schedule.

You can browse all available themes at https://wordpress.com/themes

And also is there a way to embed a live stream to your site to be able to go live from your website? Like a video streaming app

If so are there ones that’s free like not subscription based cuz I’m not looking to pay anything

  • Unknown's avatar

Also I noticed there’s alot of new themes that I wanna use but when I go to view them then activate it my sidebar and widgets are not showing

I just switched back to the twenty twenty one theme and now none of my blogs or widgets are showing. Widgets usually occur at the bottom

And not sure why my blogs aren’t showing now. They usually occur without having to go to menu

Is there a way to get my widgets back without having to add them all over again

  • Hello there,

And also is there a way to embed a live stream to your site to be able to go live from your website?

It depends where the streaming is coming from and what code is required to stream it.

Iframes for instance aren’t permitted on the free plan.

If it’s on YouTube, you could look to use a YouTube block: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/youtube-block/

And not sure why my blogs aren’t showing now. They usually occur without having to go to menu

Is there a way to get my widgets back without having to add them all over again

Content wouldn’t be removed when a theme is activated, you may have to configure a posts page via Appearance > Customize > Homepage settings.

It’s also the same for Widgets as themes have different widget areas. This can be re-added via Appearance > Customize > Widgets.

I meant free live streaming apps like from the playstore cuz I have Android

And it seems as if my widgets were removed cuz there no longer there. It shouldn’t do that when changing themes. I went to customize and homepage and nothing. I would hate to have to readd them all over again and I don’t really want to. That’s why I’m asking how would get them back without having to readd them again from scratch

And my blogs usually show up without having to click on menu and now that’s not happening either

  • Hi there,

Yes you can embed Live Streams from Youtube into your site, by following the instructions here: https://wordpress.com/support/videos/youtube/#stream-a-live-broadcast-with-you-tube

We do not have any other live stream embedding options at this time however

And it seems as if my widgets were removed cuz there no longer there. It shouldn’t do that when changing themes.

It can happen when you switch to a theme that does not offer the same widget areas. For example if you are coming from a theme that has a sidebar for widgets and switching to a theme that is single column (with no sidebar) then those widgets would be lost in the switch since they have nowhere to go on the new theme, so to speak.

It is possible to switch back to your previous theme, but settings are not saved so things like widgets will need to be set up again I’m afraid.

And my blogs usually show up without having to click on menu and now that’s not happening either

You can make your blog posts appear on your homepage (which is not set to show posts by default) by adding the Blog Posts block as explained here: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/blog-posts-block/

This will allow you to show recent posts right on the homepage, no need to switch to another page to see those.

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

That really sucks I did not know that happens when changing themes. I really do wanna switch my theme cuz my current theme is from last year but all the themes are single columns. I want theme with sidebar widgets showing. It sucks that I have to do widgets over again

For widgets i had a follow button for people to follow my blog if I readd the follow button will my followers still remain the same. I think I currently have 20 something. Will this also go for my other widgets too

  • Hi there,

if I readd the follow button will my followers still remain the same.

Yes, your followers will remain unaffected.

Will this also go for my other widgets too

    What were the other widgets?

  • Unknown's avatar

Ok. I also wanna change my theme cuz my current theme is from last year but all the themes are single columns. I want theme with sidebar widgets showing

I currently readded all my widgets again but I’m afraid if I change my theme the same thing will happen again with losing my widgets

Sorry last question. I find the new editor very confusing to be honest I miss the old editor it was so simple

  • Hi there,

I also wanna change my theme cuz my current theme is from last year but all the themes are single columns. I want theme with sidebar widgets showing

You can find a list of themes that have sidebar areas on the theme page here:

    https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/right-sidebar/
    https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/left-sidebar/

Also lastly for the upcoming events widget how do I get the events to show. I forgot how i did it last time

If you’re using Google Calender, you’ll first need to make sure that your calendar is public in the “Share this Calendar” section or WordPress.com will not be able to see the calendar to embed it.

Also, there is sometimes a short delay from when you embed the calender to when it shows up.

Please take a look at our support page regarding the Upcoming Events Widget and let us know if you have any questions:

    https://wordpress.com/support/widgets/upcoming-events/

I find the new editor very confusing to be honest I miss the old editor it was so simple

We do not recommend using the classic editor as it does not have all the features and functionality that will allow your site to operate optimally. You can access the classic editor by going to Dashboard > Pages > All Pages and clicking the classic editor link under the page you want to edit.

For more information, please take a look at our support page:

    https://wordpress.com/support/classic-editor-guide/

What issues are you encountering with the new editor? We’d be happy to assist you with any questions you have. Our support page breaks down the Block Editor and addresses many of the questions you may have:

    Hope this helps.

I don’t use Google calendar but I do want the events to show I did it last time

I just find the new editor confusing in general like hard to navigate. I also know there’s another one called code editor what is that

  • Unknown's avatar

And what about for the rss feed widget how do I get the URLs

  • Unknown's avatar

Also for my theme when I go to customize then homepage settings it says that I can choose what’s displayed on my homepage. It says for a static page publish two pages. Then one will become the homepage and the other where blog posts are displayed. How do I do that

  • I don’t use Google calendar but I do want the events to show I did it last time

The Upcoming Events widget that uses Google Calendar is the only option we have for this.

I also know there’s another one called code editor what is that

The code editor is where you can see and modify the HTML code for your posts/pages, though it’s meant to be used for troubleshooting issues only. I don’t recommend changing anything in the code editor, as making changes to the block HTML can cause the blocks to break, which can mess up the entire page.

And what about for the rss feed widget how do I get the URLs

The RSS feed widget is for when you want to embed RSS feeds from other websites into your website. You’ll need to look on the website you want to embed whether or not they have a RSS feed link listed somewhere, or else ask the site owner what their RSS feed link is.

Also for my theme when I go to customize then homepage settings it says that I can choose what’s displayed on my homepage. It says for a static page publish two pages. Then one will become the homepage and the other where blog posts are displayed. How do I do that

You can find detailed steps on how to do this here:
