Search results incorrect?

I have a page with the name ‘Chudleigh’ in the text (not in the page title). Searching for ‘Chudleigh’ just takes me to the start of the ‘C’ surnames? I thought it would zoom in to the actual name on the relevant page?
Searching for the surname ‘Allen’ (which appears in the text of the page, not the title page) takes me to the B page. Confused…

Searching my Swansea Battalion site. Got a search widget in the sidebar but results don’t show as expected.
Had a Joomla site previously and search results used to show search term highlighted. WordPress doesn’t do that highlight for me (OK) but e.g. Chudleigh does appear on a page (the ‘C’ page) but not at all in the search result initial display – I have to enter the page to find it. Odd. Tried several searches all with odd, to me, results.

Well, you’re not going to like the answer.
The issue is, you’ve set up your site to be as little optimized for searches as it is possible to do. Static pages, which you have made, have virtually no SEO, in other words search engines almost completely ignore them.
Search engines like POSTS instead.
So instead of http://swanseabattalion.wordpress.com/battalion-history/aveluy-wood/
you would have something like http://swanseabattalion.wordpress.com/date/aveluy-wood/Here is teh background http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/
In order to change this, you are going to have to do one page at a time, copy/pasting it into a Post instead.
