  Search widget only seems to search the body of a post not tags or categories. ie, if I search Atheism it only pulls posts with Atheism in the body. If I only tagged or categorized it Atheism without mentioning it in the body, it won’t pull them up.

  That is correct, the Search Widget is designed to only search content. We do have tag and category widgets if you’d like to list those as well.
