Of what files are you speaking?
The account you’re using to post here does not own any sites, and you cannot have files on our servers without having a site hosted with us first.
A Gravatar.com profile and a WordPress.com account are the same thing, so closing a Gravatar account means also closing your WordPress.com account.

I am talking about my Gravatar account that was hacked pretending to be me and for no reason was able to access my downloaded documents containing sensitive information. Gravatar sent me by email a zip file containing those documents.
I really do not know how the hacker was able to access my account. I have reported this incident to the companies I affiliate with.
Any suggestions how to prevent now as I am thinking of closing my Gravatar but as you stated this will deactivate also my Word Press account.
Please let me know what is the best way to prevent this from happening again. Thanks.

Gravatar sent me by email a zip file containing those documents.
Gravatar doesn’t do that actually.
I’m guessing what you’re seeing then is a “spoof” rather than a hack… someone pretending to be us. If you didn’t open the zip yet, please don’t. If we reach out via email, would you be willing to send us the email you got?
