Seeking General Advice for a Custom WP / WooCommerce Theme

I am planning to hire a developer to create a custom WordPress theme with WooCommerce. There are two main custom features which existing themes cannot handle. One is a third-party SDK that I need incorporated onto each product page, and the second is a data-science heavy product recommendation feature which requires custom algorithms, user pages, and admin panel pages. A primary concern is that the WordPress data model for post & user meta can have scalability issues in gigantic datasets. As a result, slow load time, site bloat, site vulnerability, and data call glitches have been suggested to me as possible occurrences. Are these valid concerns?
