Self-hosted blog redirecting to wordpress.com

  I purchased my domain from wordpress.com, and have successfully uploaded it to my server (hostgator), however when I login to the admin panel I am redirected to wordpress.com (no plugins etc). I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times to no avail. Why would it be doing this?

  I was told on the wordpress.org forum: “You need to change the DNS at wordpress.com as they are registrar of domain name to point to your hostgator server.

  How do I do that?

  If you’ve registered your domain through WordPress.com and now want it to point to a blog or website hosted elsewhere then you can do this by updating the nameservers. Follow the Update Nameservers instructions below.

  The what to put in for the nameserver information comes from your host – only they know what that information is. Some hosts have over 50 nameservers.
