Self-hosting my domain which I paid and registered for using WordPress

  Hi, I would like to self-host my domain, and then use the WordPress system on it.
  However, I made the wrong move on purchasing my domain through WordPress, and I want to self-host it now. This was done less than 48 hours ago, and I am hoping to get a refund if I need to cancel my domain…..

  Is that possible? I am not too familiar with all the terminology and the guy who’s doing up this server thing for us is now saying it is going to be difficult to transfer everything.

  Is this a possible solution for me?
  -To cancel the domain through WordPress, and then host the same domain name on another server? Will that same domain name still be available?

  I saw your FAQ on moving my domain to another host – is this what it addresses?

  Please help!!

  Hi Vivien,

  If we cancel your newly-registered domain, it can take up to several weeks for our domain registrar to release the domain, and we can’t guarantee that your domain will be available to you again once canceled.

  If you want to keep using your domain but you don’t want to use it at WordPress.com, you don’t have to cancel it. Instead, you can use the domain to another website hosting provider, using the Domain Administration tool under Store > Domains in your dashboard, at the bottom of the page.

  You are welcome to keep your domain with us and update the nameservers to point to another hosting provider by following this guide: Change name servers

  After 60 days from the date of purchase or registrant contact information change, you may also transfer your domain to another registrar by following this guide: Transfer a domain to another registrar
