send/not send email notification of new posting

    I have the free version as Im not business. When I first started I selected an option so that when I published a new post whoever signed up would receive notification Id done so via email. i’m sure there was also a tick box when I went to publish as to whether I wanted to notify them or not. I currently cant find this tick box as wordpress has changed. Can you help me. I have looked at your help page and it says I need install a plugin. It says that it can be done on the free version et when I go to add the plugin it says I need to upgrade. As this is only for family and a handful of friends I don’t want a full version. Can you advise if I can get a plugin if on free or not, or perhaps if there is another way to not send notifications just for a few of my posts – usually I would leave this on. thanks

    At the moment, we have removed this option.

    We do plan to bring it back, but there’s no estimate at this time.

    So you cant stop new post notifications from going out now? I don’t like the wordpress notification and would like to use mailchimp instead. It’s more professional looking. How can i turn off new post notifications?

    We don’t have a way to turn off this system for whole WordPress.com sites, but existing followers can choose to unsubscribe themselves: https://en.support.wordpress.com/following/

    So how do people use the mailchimp plug-in for new post notifications? Will you be updating the notification so that it appears more professional looking then? Thank you.

    Mailchimp is a third party newsletter service that site owners can use to send out their own newsletters or notifications, over and above whatever is sent via WordPress.com’s built-in notification system. We are not in any way involved with what site owners send to their Mailchimp subscribers – the only part of the process that happens through WordPress.com is the signups. From that point on everything happens on Mailchimp’s end, and each site owner decides for themselves how they want to use that particular service.

    Are you speaking of the standard WordPress.com notification emails? In what way would you like it to be updated?

    WordPress.com notification emails look the same for all sites, and we don’t offer any option to configure how they look for specific sites.
