SEO for importing from medium

  if i use the medium import tool to import my blogs, will I be penalized in SEO for having duplicate content (one at medium, and now at wp.com) ?

  Hi there,

  It’s better to ask Google directly about something like this, but I’m guessing the answer will be yes, as the same content would exist at two completely different URLs on the web.

  Are you thinking of migrating to WordPress.com, or do you just want to keep a copy of your content here as a backup? If you’re just trying to make a backup of your Medium site, you can set the WordPress.com site to private, then search engines won’t crawl it, and only you will have access to it.
