Set up and theme plug in errors

  • Unknown's avatar

Hello. This is the first time I have set up a a WP.com site for a client. My tech guy passed who used to to that part. But I must have did it wrong? In order to get to the website to log in, I have to use joannelilystark.com/wp-admin/wp-admin and on all my other sites, there is only the one /wp-admin

Also, I have installed a theme (Avada) and it says plug ins (Core and Builder) need to be updated but when I click on it, it says ‘Cannot load avada-plugins.’ I was thinking it would take time for server to update but it has been several days.

I did find an installation guide but it appeared that it was for WordPress.org, not WordPress.com. Any advice for a newbie? Thanks.

  • Hi there,

We can’t help directly because we don’t host your site joannelilystark.com on our WordPress.com managed hosting. As a result, we can’t take a closer look at your site.

Instead your host (privatesystems.net) uses the open-source variant of the WordPress platform (sometimes called “WordPress.org”) which functions differently than what we offer here on WordPress.com.

The good news is that help is available here at the open-source WordPress forums: https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting/

The folks in that forum are more familiar with these kinds of issues and are in the best position to help. Thanks!
