Setting up menu pages

I am trying to learn about how to customize a website but I’m not sure i understand how to incorporate what i want.

I would have a menu button at the top and have about 3 pages drop down when the menu button is selected. For this example, the pages would be news, weather and sports. I’m looking for a way to have a side + or arrow option next to those in the menu. For the sports, the + or arrow would then show 3 other page options, high school, college and pro. I know this is possible but i don’t know if there is a theme that i should be looking at or a plugin that would do this.

Once someone clicked on the college page from the menu, i want it to go to a page that would serve as a directory instead of just displaying the posts with college tags. The page would have a section for wordpress university and then wordpress college and then wordpress institute. That way the page is filled with better organization instead of just displaying posts.

If there are themes or plugins that can do this, please share the names! If there are any links for me to read about or watch so i can figure it out, please share them!

    Thanks for your time!

  • Hi there!

There are Menu plugins that might give you some advanced settings, however, plugins are available on plans Business or eCommerce.

On free sites, with our in-built menus, you will want to create and order the drop-down menus as explained here:

    https://wordpress.com/support/menus/#create-drop-down-menus.

The way in which menus and submenus are displayed depends on the theme so you may want to check other themes to find the one you like most.

If you decide to upgrade to plan Business, note that you will also be able to upload any third-party theme.
