setting up my own domain name

hi, I’m setting up my own domain name I just transferred from another provider. Transfer was successful and I it appears ACTIVE. It’s set up as primary address but it still does’t work. I haven’t updated the DNS, do I need to for it to work? Any clues on what A to add?

  • Hi there,

Thank you for reaching out to us!

There are 2 custom A records in your DNS settings that need to be removed in order for the domain to load the site here.

To remove these records, head to Upgrades > Domains and click “Point to WordPress.com”. You’ll be brought to a screen that contains your domain settings. Select the “DNS records” drop-down item on this new screen and click “Manage”.

You’ll see 4 DNS entries, including the 2 A records you’ll need to remove. Click on the three vertical dots across from each A record to find the “Delete” option.

After these records are deleted, it can take 48-72 hours for the DNS records to fully update. Sometimes, clearing your browser cache can help the site load during this time.

If you run into any further trouble with this, please let us know.
