Setting up new wordpress.org site before shutting down old website

  I have an old website. I want to set up a new website with wordpress.org and keep the domain from the old website. I want to the old website to stay until I am ready to get rid of it.

  Okay, what is the difficulty you are experiencing? Have you got a web host?

  I have a host for my existing site with poor customer service–I can’t seem to get a hold of them or find a way to log into their system. What I want to know is if I can begin a new site and transfer to the old domain when it is ready. Thanks!
