Setting up private pages on website
-
I presently have a free site (.com), but need to have private pages accessed by certain users so I need to upgrade to business account (I think).
Am nervous to go to .org because not sure what it will do to my present (5-year-old and functioning) site. Advice? -
Hi there,
It is possible to add membership functionality by upgrading to our Premium plan. This will allow you to use the “Premium Content” block to add content to your site that is locked, and accessible only to members. We have a video on this page showing you how to do that
You can also upgrade to the Business Plan, which will give your WordPress.com site the same capabilities as “.org” sites to upload plugins and themes. From there you can upload a 3rd party “membership plugin” which is another common method that site owners use. You can see there are many membership plugins to choose from here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/search/membership/
In either event, if you upgrade your current site will not change at all in appearance. it will be just as it is now, but will have added capabilities provided by the upgrade so you can do more with it.

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
