Setting up Website.
-
I secured a domain name I want to use through a separate hosting service called Directnic (which I just paid for).
I want to use WordPress to build a business website. How do I merge the two services?
In other words, have the domain and hosting service imported (merged?) with WordPress website creation service.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Yo don’t use WordPress.COM with any other service.
You can use a WordPress.ORG install for that.

So did I just waste money on a hosting plan?

WordPress.org offers free software that you can install on a web server. You can upload and install themes and plugins, run ads, conduct ecommerce and edit the database.
WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate and have different logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support forums. http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.ORG bloggers.
Resetting your WordPress.ORG password http://codex.wordpress.org/Resetting_Your_Password
WordPress.org support docs are at https://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page
