Setting up WordPress template onto subdomain

Hi, My old website is http://www.starsnorth.com and is hosted via Media Template. I am building a new site, so I wanted to build on a subdomain and then transfer to the main domain when it’s done. I created a subdomain http://build.starsnorth.com and used Media Temple’s one-click setup to add WordPress to the subdomain. I also went onto ThemeForest purchased/downloaded a WordPress template called ‘Cinerama – A Theme for Movie Studios and Filmmakers’. The problem is getting this template to appear on my subdomain. When I am on the backend in the admin page, I can see option in Dashboard to Change my Theme Completely, but when I click on it the page is mostly blank and does not give me any option. When I go under Appearance>Themes>Add New, there are not any themes to choose from. There is a button at the top that says ‘Upload Theme’ but when I click on it nothing happens. I have done this before for several sites and never had this issue. Please help. What am I doing wrong? I am meeting with my client tomorrow and wanted to have this up and running to show him.

  • Hi there,

Your site is not hosted on WordPress.com, but using the open source WordPress.org software at another hosting provider. We cannot help with this in the WordPress.com forums.

If I had to guess, I’d say the WordPress software is not properly installed at your subdomain, in which case the best place to get help is directly from your hosting provider.

Else, please post in the self-hosted WordPress forums for help:
