I seem to have two WordPress accounts registered under the same e-mail address and would like to delete the one I accidentally created by choosing to login via gmail, instead of just entering my email address to login.
How do I go about deleting my second account, ensuring that I do not delete the account that is linked to my WordPress site?

That is impossible. Our system simply won’t allow you to create more than one account using the same email.
However, it’s possible to have a WordPress.com username account, and an admin account on a stand-alone WordPress site, using the same email, as those two accounts have nothing at all to do with one another.
As this WordPress.com account which you’re using to post here was created less than 24 hours ago, and does not own any sites, I suspect that might be the case here. You can safely delete this WordPress.com account from the account settings page without it having any effect whatsoever on the admin user accounts of any stand-alone WordPress sites you may own.
