  I’d like to have it so that those who are subscribed may also add/upload images/videos to the blog or board. Is this possible?

  Sure, but that’s not a blog; it’s a wiki, and it will be very expensive to create and run. Icanhascheezburger.com is the closest thing we have to that here, and they pay at least $30,000 a year for it.

  If that is what you want, you will not be able to do it on WordPress.com.

  So Tumblr does let members submit posts pretty easily… just wondering WordPress might have a similar function

  Yes, but they have to be Editors of the blog in question in order to upload images. If you want to invite, by email, everyone to be an Editor, then you can do that.

  It will be a spam nightmare, but at least WP.com security restrictions will protect you from most malware.

  I can’t post to your tumblr, and you can’t post to mine. Don’t compare apples and oranges. You’re not asking for a personal blog; you’re asking for a site to be open to whoever passing by to upload things. That cannot be done here (at least, not for less than $30,000 a year). And it can’t be done on Tumblr at all unless you mean putting a photo in a reply.
