  Sharing isn’t working. My posts aren’t showing up on Facebook or Twitter. Can you help?

  Hi David,

  I’m so sorry about this. We have received multiple reports of this, and I have been able to reproduce the error.

  I included your report to the original report as well.

  I will update you as soon I as I hear anything. As a workaround, please manually share your post via the Facebook/Twitter Share button at the bottom of your post.

  Thanks, Grace. There is no share button at the bottom of my posts. Can you give me some more guidance? (I’m talking about posts I’ve already posted.)

  If you are viewing the actual post (not on the Posts page, but the actual link to the post) the Sharing buttons will appear. For example, if you go here:

  http://pintsofhistory.com/2014/08/05/the-death-of-david-carthage/

  You will see the Sharing buttons on the bottom as seen here:

  Hi David,

  I just wanted to check in with you again, but I found out that my posts (the ones I published to reproduce your error) ended up showing up on Facebook/Twitter an hour and a half after.

  I’m wondering did the same happen for you?

  Hi, Grace. You’re right that sharing does seem to work on Facebook, very slowly. But so far as I can tell, it doesn’t work on Twitter at all. Neither of my last two posts has gone out as tweets. One I posted back in March, and the other yesterday afternoon. (I manually tweeted both yesterday; automatic tweets aren’t happening.)

  Hi David,

  Thanks for the info! We had some server maintenance yesterday which may have led to the delay, but since it didn’t post to Twitter at all is an issue.

  I’m sorry for the inconvenience, can you try publishing again to see if you get the same issue?

  Thanks, Grace. It is working now, on both Facebook and Twitter.

  But it really didn’t work for my March post. Maybe that’s water under the bridge …

  I’m glad to hear that it’s working now. Yes, unfortunately, when there’s a hiccup like this a fix won’t retroactively publicize the old post that never got publicized.

  If the hiccup happens again the workaround would be to manually share the post, but nevertheless please let me know and I can take a deeper look into the matter in the meantime.
