Sharing Posts on FaceBook

  Every time I share a new post in my Blog on FaceBook it shows the wrong image. It doesn’t show the first image, instead shows number 2 or 3 for some strange reason, I can’t get it to show the image I want. I have selected a featured image but this doesn’t work either.

  Hi there,

  Could you give me a link to one or two posts where the wrong image shows up on Facebook? I’d be happy to take a closer look to see what’s going on with them.

  Thanks for those links! I just checked those in Facebook’s debugger to see what’s going on:

  https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/

  We’re sending Facebook the featured image, but for some reason Facebook is ending up with this error:

  Provided og:image could not be downloaded or is not big enough. Please use an image that’s at least 200x200px and is accessible from Facebook.

  Because of that, Facebook looks for other images from the post to use instead. Now, your featured images definitely aren’t too small. :) So it’s possible that the image file is actually too big for Facebook and it’s having trouble downloading that featured image.

  For example, in the pizza post the featured image file is 2448 × 2448 pixels. You might want to try resizing that to something a little smaller to see if Facebook can handle that image size better.

  Also, sometimes just checking the link in that Facebook debug tool is enough to fix the problem on Facebook — it just needs a little extra help. :)
