Sharing to Facebook lists it as "Posted by Croton Township"
-
Facebook Sharing posts say posted by Croton Township. I used to work with them but not longer do. Where do I change the setting so it doesn’t say Croton Township. This is a personal blog and I cannot be having it say that on my posts for Facebook. I am using the auto Sharing option with all my Social Media etc…that’s when it says “Posted By Croton Township”
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there!
Can you take a screenshot of where you’re seeing this text? Upload it to your Media Library and I’ll be able to see it.
-
I’ve uploaded it to my media library. Please let me know how to change “Croton Township” to something else of my choice. Thank you!
-
Thanks for the image! Facebook should display the Author’s display name there. It looks like your display name is currently projectgreendragon as you can see here:
https://wordpress.com/settings/public-profile/
It’s possible that Facebook is grabbing old information. Can you try running your site through their debugger:
https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/
After you’ve selected “Debug” two new buttons will be available for you. Please select “Fetch new scrape information”.
Let me know if it’s still appearing incorrectly after doing that.

I have visited the developers tool page to debug, I enter my facebook URL – https://www.facebook.com/armando.diaz.9083 and it just comes up with a blank page. Is there something else I can do or something that I am doing wrong? I’ve tried it without http:\ with http:\ and with https:\
Please let me know
Thank you!

Hi there!
Sorry for being unclear. You’ll want to enter the URL of your site:
Let me know how that goes!
-
I chose fetch new scrape information. I STILL get it saying posted by “Croton Township” on Facebook. No fun.
I took a screenshot as well as “Scraped URL See exactly what our scraper sees for your URL” and added both the screenshot of the CROTON TOWNSHIP and PDF of “see what our scraper sees”.
Please advise as to the next step. WordPress ERROR=Screenshot WordPress Facebook Scrape = PDF

I just want to confirm. After you rescraped your site, did you try posting a new link to your Facebook? Or did you check the old one?
I don’t believe there’s anyway to update the information on the links already posted. As far as I know, Facebook doesn’t dynamically grab this information. So once they’ve posted the article, you can’t update that content.
-
Made a new post I deleted all the old ones as I can’t have them saying “Croton Township”

Okay. Just so I have some background information as I try to dig through and figure out why this is happening. Are you associated with Croton Township? Do you work on their website or anything? Has ‘Croton Township’ ever been your display name?
-
I used to. I transferred it to a new owner, I had been the administrator but sent it out to a new owner/administrator. Yes “Croton Township” used to be the display name. It’s been changed. I’ve transferred the site out of my WordPress account. All these things in an attempt to get rid of the wrong display name.

Thanks for all that info. From what I can see, we’re sending all the correct info to Facebook. It looks like Facebook just needs some time to update their info. You might want to try to contact Facebook’s support team and see if there’s another way to prompt an update of the information in your links.
