shift role back
-
Dear all,
I built a website but can’t change the user function back to me. How can I arrange it? It was built for my mother but she can’t handle it nor access it.
thanks! Ester
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Ester,
If your mother is currently the administrator, she can transfer the administrator role back to your account from the Users section. If she no longer has access or is unable to do it, you’ll need to recover access using the email address associated with the administrator account or contact WordPress.com Support for account recovery.
I had a similar situation while managing my website, movie-boxapp.com, and the easiest solution was recovering the administrator account first. Once you regain admin access, you can change user roles as needed.
Hope this helps!

Thank you. My mother is totally fine with giving the role back to me. But if I go with her from her users account, the one that comes up when I enter her email adress, it says that she also does not have the rights… I am puzzled. Who can give help in this case? I simply need to change the settings back. Thank you, Ester

Hi there!
Thanks for reachinng out!
If you’re still seeing a message saying she doesn’t have the rights while logged in, it’s possible her account is set as an Editor or Author rather than Administrator/Owner, or you might be logged into a different profile than expected.
