  can subsequent shortcodes appear AFTER the [end] shortcode, or will they be ignored?

  Well, the way you edited the explanation makes it clear. The explanation itself says

  everything after this shortcode is ignored (i.e. signatures).

  which implies only text (e.g. signatures) is ignored. So, no, the Support doc is NOT clear, which is why I posted the question.

  The word “everything” is pretty inclusive.
