Should I delete unknown users? I had "Anyone can register" turned on.

    I had “Anyone can register” accidentally turned on and now have a few hundred users set with “subscriber” rights. None are admins. Are they spammers? Should I delete them all? I have no way of knowing who is legit and who isn’t. Many have @outlook.com addresses instead of websites. If they are spammers, why isn’t there any spam on my site? Did the akismet spam service catch it? I don’t want to delete anyone who is a legitimate follower of my site.
