Hi Cathy,
The cost of upgrades in different currencies varies based on currency conversion rates as well as other local costs (such as VAT).
The currency used for buying upgrades at WordPress.com depends on your billing information. For example, if your billing address is in the United Kingdom you will see pounds sterling, but if your billing address is in the United States you will see US dollars. If you’d like to be billed in US dollars, you’ll need to choose a billing method (such as credit card or PayPal account) linked to a US billing address.

Thank you, but that doesn’t make sense.
For one of my sites (friendsofchurchalley.org.uk) I’m charged in dollars.
For another of my sites (can’t remember which) I was offered a choice box on upgrading for which currency I would prefer. It’s because this choice box didn’t appear for doing another upgrade that I got in contact with you.
For each, I am using a UK address.
NB: I wouldn’t mind, but your exchange rate is poor: $13 is much less than £9.

Hi Cathy,
It’s possible that existing upgrades that are set to auto renew will continue to be renewed with the original currency (for example, in dollars if you originally purchased the upgrade in dollars). However, due to changes in our payment system, new payments will be automatically set to the currency matching your billing details. There is no longer a way to change the currency except based on your billing details.
