  Hi! I created a ShowIt site a while back, and (due to confusion on my part) I think I created a WordPress account with my email address before everything was squared away with the blog. I’ve tried everything I can to get the showit site and the WordPress account to link up, but WordPress keeps prompting me to create a new site instead of using the domain the blog was supposed to be built for. Is there anything I can do to link the accounts aside from canceling this account and starting from scratch?

  Hi there,

  We’re not familiar with ShowIt, but after taking a closer look at their site, it seems they are referring to self-hosted WordPress sites, which are sites that you create on a “traditional web host” like Bluehost, GoDaddy, WP Engine, etc.

  To clarify, we are not the only providers of WordPress sites, and ShowIt also happens to offer WordPress sites (in partnership with WP Engine based on what I see here) but they use a different version of the platform than what we use on WordPress.com. Because of this we are not able to help with your issue as it lies outside of our system. See http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ for more info.

  I think in this case you will want to reach out to ShowIt support for assistance in how to connect to WordPress as they seem to have developed their platform to connect to the other version ow WordPress, and may not be compatible here with the custom cloud-based service we offer here on WordPress.com
