Sidebar disappeared

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hey guys,

My sidebar disappeared. I changed my contributors to editors, and then they put up three new posts, and all of a sudden the sidebar vanished. Any idea what’s going wrong?
    URL is: http://www.dressarchie.wordpress.com

    Thanks.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

This is the correct URL for your wordpress.com blog http://dressarchie.wordpress.com/ Take note that there is no “www” in that URL.

All themes have a default display of selected widgets. When we go here > Appearance > Widgets and move any widgets our choices overide the default display. If we do not select all of the widgets we want by dragging and dropping them out of the Available widgets box into the Sidebar box and then click the widgets, open them , configure them and click “save” and “close”. If we don’t do that for all widgets we select then the default widget display will be gone and we have no widgets in the sidebar. This is easy to “fix”. Just go here > Appearance > Widgets and go through the process I just described.

Thanks for the help timethief. I had edited the widgets to my liking when I created the blog, and everything worked fine. It was only until the most recent post appeared on the blog that the side bar vanished.
I went back and “saved” then “closed” each widget settings under the Appearance menu, but that didn’t help.
Something that may help is that I’ve noticed at the bottom of my blog, the text is cut off. By this I mean I am using the “Black Letterhead” theme, but at the bottom of the window, all you can read is “Get a free blog at wordpress.com Theme: Black Let” and then the text vanishes.
Does this give you any more hints as to what could be going on?

oops! That blog linked to your username is gone. Anyway back to the blog this is bout. If you didn’t copy and paste any text into a post from elsewhere (bad HTML), or insert an an image that’s too large for the blogging space, then I have reached the end of my guesses as to why your sidebar contents aren’t there.
