Sidebar on home page, but not anywhere else
-
Is there a way to get a sidebar on the homepage, but not on the regular pages? Like if I clicked on one of my blog posts it would bring up a large full page photo/article.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

With modularity lite, you can set a “no-sidebar full-width page template on static pages you create such as your about page. On post related pages such as the main, categories, tags, single-post page, and archives, no.
You can turn off the sidebar for all pages in appearance > theme options.
If you want to do it more selectively, then you would have to have some CSS editing experience and buy the CSS upgrade.

Is there another theme I could switch to that would allow it? I don’t want to mess around with the code. If not, I’ll just forget about it and use what I have.

This will get you part of the way to knowing what shows on what.
This does not cover category, tags and archives pages. Category/tags/archives pages in general follow the main blog page.
With modularity lite, you have the the 4 footer widget areas, which you can use when you set the theme to “full-width” at appearance > theme options.
