  Hi, by mistake I signed up for a new wordpress.com account yesterday. I was really trying to get into my wordpress.org account to make some changes to my existing website. Suddenly my site looks different. The layout is changed, the opening header disappeared, and there is a sidebar that never existed, with a ton of links to all pages I ever created. If I close this account will I be able to go back to my old site?

  Hi there,

  It appears that when you created your WordPress.com account, you connected your self-hosted site thefreesoul.com to that account via the Jetpack plugin.

  Here is more information on Jetpack: https://jetpack.com/

  If you close your account, the only thing you’ll be losing are the features you received via the Jetpack plugin (which you clearly didn’t have before you created the account). So, if those are not features you do not believe you want or will utilize, you can close the account without any further disruption to your WordPress.org site.
