Signed up with WordPress.com meant to signup with WordPress.org, contacted your support on Saturday and they responded back with some questions. I answered right away and have not heard anything else back. I’m not sure why. I need these questions answered. Here is the conversation: Hello there!

Thank you for contacting WordPress.com support. Looks like we missed you in chat but I’m here now to help you!

I meant to create on WordPress.org site not on WordPress.com. Is there a way to transfer this over? If not, can I close this account and be refunded since I have done nothing with it? Also, is there a lag time if I close the account that I can’t do anything with the domain name?

For security purposes, I need you to respond to this email from the email address on your WordPress.com account before I give you information or take action on your account.

In your response, can you please confirm what site and domain you need assistance with?

Also, what type of site are you building? What are your goals? I can advise you on the best way to set up a new site so it can thrive!

Please be aware that with WordPress.org, you’ll need to find an alternative hosting provider to manage your site. Also, you won’t have access to the WordPress.com support team to help you build your site. With WordPress.com you can manage everything related to your site in one place. It comes complete with managed hosting, site performance and speed optimization, and a support staff ready to answer your questions and provide tailored recommendations for your success!

Would love to know more about your goals. I’m here to help!

    Looking forward to your reply!

    Best,

    My response:
Hi Staj – Yes, I would appreciate any guidance. The website is: http://www.thehightideva.com. I am a service based business and the website will be so potential clients can view it as a source of a resume and for contacting me through a contact form. It will be a small, 4 page site. I have worked with wordpress before for another client and like the Elementor plugin, however, upon my research a couple of weeks ago, realized to have it on a wordpress.com site would cost me a business plan site as well as the plug in cost per month and I just don’t have the funds for that right now. Therefore I did more research and noticed you can do a wordpress.org website and still get the elementor plugin and from what I’ve seen it is more cost friendly. In all the confusion of buying a domain, getting proper hosting and then choosing a site, I accidentally chose wordpress.com instead of wordpress.org. I have already purchased hosting through dreamhost. I hope that gives you a better idea.

    Many thanks,

    Kelly Brown
