  Hello

  I would like to move my website to WordPress.com
  Before I signup for Business I would like to know if I will loose any work of building my site if I have to perhaps later downgrade to Personal (this COVID/lockdown mess is making things difficult to predict next month and the next).

  I would prefer to Signup for Business from the start to build the new site on the correct / final template + get the functions we need when we transfer / rebuild our site from Weebly. But I also don’t want to loose all the time if perhaps we have to downgrade later.

  I hope you understand my question. Looking forward to your reply.

  Hi,

  So the short answer is…. possibly, but also probably not.

  You won’t ever lose any of your data or content when downgrading. Posts and pages and menus will all be there. What you might lose are some capabilities if you’ve taken advantage of them in the Business plan. For example:

  • Plugins – If your site is using plugins, whatever functionality they provide will no longer work if you downgrade.
  • Uploaded themes – If you have uploaded a third party theme to your site, it will no longer be available if you downgrade.
  • Media – The Business plan comes with 200GB of storage and the Personal plan comes with 6GB. So if you have a massive amount of media uploaded, you may have to figure out a way to handle that if you downgrade.

  Those are the major ones, but there may be a few others as well.
