Site being hacked- would like to request logs of access for legal proceedings

Content on my website is being mysteriously deleted under questionable premises. In short, being hacked. I am fairly confident I know who the person perpetrating this is (An editor who left under negative circumstances only recently), and would like to file legal action against them.

I have consulted with persons more in the know, and they recommend I approach wordpress directly to ask for information regarding access logs. Is this possible?

(regarding evidence of mysterious deletions, see https://theaprilreader.wordpress.com/archive/. All files for these earlier releases has been erased)

Have you removed any unauthorized users and changed both your email password and blog log-in password?

Yes. I have done so. But I do not feel this is sufficient to deter future attacks. I’ve been advised to follow through by contacting police for an inquiry, and will be doing so sometime this week.

In the meantime, I’m just looking for a direct way of talking with site administrators. I have been told that wordpress may cache logs of IP activity which would prove useful in this respect. Would it be possible to acquire this?

This thread has already been flagged for staff attention – I think I saw in another thread that the staff said they did not keep IP info by users – they decode a bit of the IP info for the stats page but you will need to wait and see from the staff what info in available – WP.com is big on respecting privacy of users and accounts

  • I’m sorry, but we do not track IP addresses.

The posts and such were deleted by your account, so if you didn’t do that, I recommend changing your both your WordPress.com and email account passwords, as your email address can be used to reset your WordPress.com password.

Make sure that you use a strong password: https://en.support.wordpress.com/selecting-a-strong-password/
