Site disappearing after reverting back to original domain name
-
Hello,
I tried to change my site to a new domain name (as per these instructions: Log into your WordPress account, and from the dashboard, go to Settings > General. Change both the WordPress Address and Site Address to your new domain name, then save.)
The new domain — I’ve subsequently realised — wasn’t hosted and I think this is why WordPress wouldn’t let me transfer to it. I then tried to change back to the original domain but it didn’t work either and now WordPress says I have no site. How do I get the site under my original name back?
Thanks very much.

Hi there,
The only sites I see on your @harry95b8d4959c WordPress.com account when I check on our end are listed here:
– harryhanddotcom.wordpress.com
However, when I visit that site I am able to see it without issue and it does not seem to exhibit the problem you are referring to.
Is it possible you created another site under a different login that we are not able to see? What is the URL of the site you are needing help with?
Happy to check in our system so we can take a closer look.

Hi there,
Thanks for your help. I think I created harryhanddotcom.wordpress.com after this incident happened just so I had something there! My previous WordPress site n was harryhand.com. I tried to transfer it to the domain ahelpinghand.live (which I also own) and then the problem mentioned above happened.
If you type harryhand.com into Google it actually still displays my ‘Coming Soon’ page (albeit it’s fragmented).
Hope that helps. Thank you again,

Hi again,
Thanks for clarifying. We can’t help directly because we don’t host harryhand.com on our WordPress.com managed hosting. As a result, we can’t take a closer look at your site.
We can definitely help with harryhanddotcom.wordpress.com since that is your site with us, but as you mention that is not the site with the issue.
Instead your host (GoDaddy) uses the open-source variant of the WordPress platform which functions differently than what we offer here on WordPress.com. Specifically we use a simplified process for changing your site address that only works on WordPress.com, but does not work with other providers.
The good new though is that GoDaddy should be able to help you with this task since they manage both your site and your domains on their end. The folks over there are more familiar with the process of switching domains on self-hosted WordPress sites, and are in the best position to help. Thanks!
