site is down, all blog posts seem to have vanished

    Site has been down for most of a week, initially the jetpack alerts suggest to contact host but they dont seem to know what is happening and then when I log into WordPress account all my blog posts/etc seem to have disappeared or at least arent loading there either. Any help / ideas?

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    If your posts aren’t loading in the WordPress.com dashboard, it’s because we’re unable to connect to your hosting provider to fetch the posts. But the problem is on their end, as your site is on their servers. We have no direct access to your site’s files/content, except via the Jetpack plugin, so we have no way to help you fix this.

    This can only be fixed on Bluehost’s end – your site’s content is on their servers, and the connection between your domain and your site is set up in their system, not ours.

    I spent 1 hour on phone with bluehost yesterday and they say they problem not on their end and something to do with my site
    I really dont know what to do.
    When I log in on WordPress, my content has vanished…you are saying that is bluehost fault?
    I dont know what to do.

    I should add that the error coming up when trying to load the site at the moment is
    “error establishing database connection”

    It could be the hosting. It could also be a problem with the software, in which case Bluehost might not provide support for it.

    If it’s a software issue to the best place to ask for help is the WordPress.org forums:

    This is the exact thing that is happening to me right now. I have my database backup but no files Im missing content from 2015-2017. my site is http://www.salandbella.com . I cant find anywhere to contact you guys as bluehost is instructing me to do.

    If Bluehost is telling you to contact “WordPress”, they mean the WordPress.org community who maintains the software. We are WordPress.COM, the hosting platform, something completely separate and different from the software. We can only help with sites that are hosted on our servers, not sites on Bluehost’s, or anyone else’s servers.

    We also don’t provide support for the self-hosted software. For that you please need to post in the WordPress.org forums I linked to in my previous reply.

    The issue you experienced a couple of hours ago has nothing to do with the original issue in this thread. This thread was created two weeks ago, and is concerning a self-hosted site, i.e. not a WordPress.com site.

    The issue you experienced was a brief server outage that has already been fixed.

    In future, please create your own thread if you need help rather than posting into unrelated and outdated threads.

    As the original issue in this thread appears to have been resolved, I’m closing this thread.
