‘Your PHP installation appears to be missing the MySQL extension which is required by WordPress’. Current message such that I can’t get into my dashboard. Was just trying to update jetpack, Installed php compatibility, wp-crontrol and health checker. When installing jetpak – got as far as ‘Approve’ then tries to refresh but no go. Was about to uninstall all and re-install jetpak but locked out.

Since what you described wouldn’t be possible on WordPress.com, I guess you’re talking about a WordPress site hosted elsewhere, we are not able to help with those.
Because WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two entirely separate entities, we cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so we can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers.
