Site Recovery
-
My son died and I transferred his blog to my email. However I never received an email telling me the site would go away. How do I reactivate it, and who do I talk to to get it reactivated. I have the original authorization code.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
I’m sorry to hear about your loss.
The only site I see in your account is http://llhauver.wordpress.com, and that site hasn’t recently had any upgrades.
The domain wlhart.org expired 7 days ago. Only the account that owns a domain can renew it, which in this case is the username account, wlhauver. Renewal reminders would have been sent to the email address connected to that account.
Are you able to access that username account?
I don’t see any evidence in our logs that the site was transferred or that the email on the WordPress.com account was changed, nor was the admin contact email for the domain itself updated.

I do not have access to that email. It was his college email and they closed it down. I guess I did not transfer it to my email I just had his login information. I sent you the Authorization code so why cant I get the info to reset it – reactivate it? The site shows all his art so I would really like to keep the site.

His site and content are perfectly safe. It’s only the domain that expired, but everything that is on the site still exists at the free address.
Are you still able to log into the account? If so, you can transfer both the domain and the site over to your account. First, transfer the domain, and then transfer the site itself:
Transfer a Domain to Another WordPress.com Site or Account
Transferring a Site to Another WordPress.com Account
If you don’t have access to the account we can move everything to this account for you. However, we take account ownership very seriously, and there are also very strict regulations regarding domain ownership we need to adhere to, so we will need some additional verification.
Please see the link below for the documentation we need to transfer an account or a site with upgrades in the case of a deceased user. You can send everything to the email address listed on that page, and we can help you sort this out there:
I sent you the Authorization code so why cant I get the info to reset it – reactivate it?
What authorization code do you mean? The only place where we use an authorization code is to transfer a domain between domain providers, and that’s not what you’re trying to do in this case.
If you mean you’ve submitted an account recovery form with a transaction ID for the account, please be patient. We reply to those in the order received, so someone should get back to you within the next day or two.
