I just purchased a site redirect for veggieinspiredjourney.wordpress.com. It should redirect to veggieinspiredjourney.com. The main page does redirect, but my individual posts are NOT working. Help!!

So, the reason that is not working correctly is that you didn’t set up your permalink structure the same way on your self-hosted site as it was on WordPress.com.
Site Redirect only changes the root directory of a link. So http://veggieinspiredjourney.wordpress.com/2014/08/25/coconut-berry-smoothie/ becomes http://www.veggieinspiredjourney.com/2014/08/25/coconut-berry-smoothie/. The problem is that the post in question exists at this URL on your new site: http://www.veggieinspiredjourney.com/?p=2594
So when someone tries to visit the WordPress.com URL and then the site redirect tries to send them to your new site, they are seeing an error because the post doesn’t exist at the URL where the site tries to send them.
The best way to solve this would be to set up your self-hosted to have a matching permalink structure so that these links redirect correctly.

Thanks. That makes sense. I just switched them. Now I’m seeing this error when I go to my old posts:
Veggie Inspired Journey
Traveling the road to health, one veggie at a time.

This is somewhat embarrassing, isn’t it?
It seems we can’t find what you’re looking for. Perhaps searching can help.Is there something else I need to do?
